Questions:
1.What’s the hardest part of being an author?
The hardest part of being an author would have to be everything other than actually writing the books. I’m on a very, VERY tight budget when it comes to my books so I do everything myself. I edit, I design, I format, and I do all the marketing. I find all those other things really hurt my motivation to write because I get really excited about my story, I write it and then I realize it’s time to edit and such and I lose all interest. Once I’m actually finished writing a book it can sit for months on my computer ignored until I work up the motivation to do the next step. I really hope to get to a point where I can outsource these things and focus more on what I love: the writing.
2. What inspired you to write this book?
This story has always sort’ve been playing at the back of my mind. I love fairy tales and I’ve always wanted to do a re-telling of them but doing it with vampires came to me when I met Quill. The more I wrote the more I got to know her and consequentially Nero and I fell in love with their stubbornness to love each other.
3. How many hours per day do you spend writing?
I don’t really pay attention to how much time I spend writing I have more of a daily goal than anything. I aim to write 3000 words a day, even more if I can. Lately though I’ve been finding I hit 3000 words and I have to walk away and do something else so I’ve been doing a lot more marketing. It’s growing on me, but editing never will.
4. Is this your first book?
No this is my third book. This is the first book in the Twisted Fairy Tales series.
5. Name your top five favorite books.
1. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
2. Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley
3. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
4. I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb
5. Nefertiti by Michelle Moran
