It is the future, or is it the past? Prime never quite makes it clear when, or even where the action is set. The world has been conquered by the alien Spidrons for the last few centuries, but a plan to find freedom is about to reach fruition and it falls on two young men to fulfill the prophecy.
Prime is an interesting book, it subverts a lot of the 'chosen one' tropes and delivers a fast paced read. The way the powers worked were quite unique and it was an interesting take on the 'take back our planet' scenario.
The characters worked quite well together and I enjoyed reading about their struggles. The only niggling issue is that far too much of the book was conducted via conversation. The book at times felt more like a script than a work of prose.
Still a solid effort that I sailed through in a very short space of time.
