Now this was an interesting read. A male protagonist is fairly rare in YA and the subject matter reminded me of Supernatural. It's well written and I enjoyed it.
We start with Cas Lowell, a teen 'ghosthunter' who moves to this small town to kill 'Anna Dressed in Blood', a local ghost that's murdered tons of people. Cas is interesting, but only so far. His 'lone wolf' routine and 'too cool for school' attitude really bugged me.
Anna was a fascinating character and I wish we could have seen a bit more from her perspective.
The other characters really didn't make an impression. Possibly because Cas is so self absorbed more than the writer's skill.
In addition, there seemed to be very little reaction from the other characters to several deaths during the book. It seemed ludicrous that these normal teens would manage to function the way they did after such a horrific experience.
But issues with some of the characters aside, Anna is a really good book and I will be buying the second.
