Let me say from the start that the ideas behind this tale were fascinating. I loved the fantasy world as it reminded me of all of the hours I spent playing Dungeons and Dragons. There is a definite 'roleplay world' feel to the proceedings. It reminded me of many games played with friends and I loved that. I also loved the idea of the Titans and there was something so compelling about the fantasy world the writer talked about.
However that fantasy game vibe also had it's downside. It reads like fanfiction written for a game. The good characters were fairly standard, young boy and mentor older relative; captured elven royalty. The bad guys spoke in standard fantasy bad guy speak with no real nuances. The combat sequences were well down but I could not really connect or feel for the characters. I never felt they were in any sort of peril, even when they were. The writing does need some polish.
But a reasonably quick and enjoyable read.
