Ember has just lost her father. At his funeral, a strange sickness afflicts her and soon she's being semi-threatened/seduced by a handsome stranger. Saved by two people who claim to be her cousins, she returns with them to Florida and the town that is full of the supernatural. It doesn't take long for Ember to realise that she isn't the freaky human, she thought she was.
Okay... I cannot stop fangirling...This book is incredible.. there's romance, necromancy, shifters, action, danger, magic humour and more angst than you can shake a pointy stick at. It has some of the best pairings that I've read in YA fiction for quite a while and I loved the characters.
All of the characters are fascinating and despite Ember's position as main character, she isn't the only POV. We find ourselves following several other members of the household. They all have quirks and distinct personalities.
The writing flows really well. It's gripping and lyrical, all at the same time.
The action is wonderful and all plot threads tie together quite nicely.
I cannot stress enough how much I loved this book. I was late back from lunch today and yesterday because I couldn't put it down. When I finished I immediately started on book two.
Buy it.. read it... buy book 2.. I've already added the physical copies to my wishlist.
