Okay... where to begin.. Daughter of Isis had bags of potential, good writing, several interesting ideas and some mystery. Unfortunately this potential was thrown completely in the bin and exchanged for turgid, moronic romance.
This book takes a sensible female character and basically chucks her at this total sexist pig who spends 80% of the book seducing (or raping as he is using mind control) every other female in the book. I would have been happy if this book took his 'sexy sex powers' and basically had the girl resist or hate him, but it didn't.. The girl can resist but she sees a tiny glimmer of goodness, that he really doesn't have, she wuvs him and wants to help (even though every one of his interactions with her revolve around him trying to get her in bed)
I think I would have bought more into the romance if Seth had actually shown any sign of wanting to change before Matti showed up. Basically his entire turnabout seems motivated by a desire to keep his dad off his 'things'. If you want me to buy the 'He's a good guy really' then actually give him a soul.
I so wanted this book to be more, it has a great hook. I was interested in the reasons why her father moved them to Egypt California when he hates Egypt but despite being mentioned it is not resolved. Avoid.
