Okay.. Until the midpoint mark on this book, I was rolling my eyes so fast, they could have fallen out. All of the following points nearly made me want to give up:
The insta-love between the faerie guardian and human, her ludicrous efforts to break all the rules for them to be together and the fact that no one batted an eyelid at a supposed human's survival on a trip to fairyland. The human's inability to treat any situation as serious and his tendency to order the faerie about, annoyed me endlessly
But once the twist occurred, the book improved immeasurably. With the loss of the human love interest to treachery, Violet got to deal with a much more interesting male character and a plot that was so much better than before. And it got fascinating.
As a consequence, I will probably continue with the series, despite my fears that the author will drag the 'bland as soup' human back into the action to continue the supposedly steamy love affair.
