Well it's kinda fitting that my first book review be Twilight. It is fairly major and has it's own hatedom, so let's start the ball rolling.
I enjoyed Twilight, it was fairly easy read, quite fluffy and a guilty pleasure. I read it before the hate hit the fan. (in fact a friend of mine only knew about Twilight, because of the hate) I'm not saying I think it's the best book in the world, but having a hatedom seems a little much. But enough of this and on to the review.
The plot everyone knows, Bella Swan moves to Forks Washington and falls for a Vampire..
What's good about it:
It is gripping and holds your attention, you are drawn into the life of Bella and you understand her motivations.
Edward is quite well written as a vampire who must fight his urges to feed.
What's bad about it:
Bella is too clutzy without any reasons for it and it is annoying.
The arrival of the other vampires towards the end is terribly fast and unnecessary, it isn't foreshadowed well and is just there to make the ending exciting.
The hordes of guys that want to date her seems odd when her background is one of a dateless wonder. It has shades of Mary Sue writing and isn't very good. So to is her swooning whenever she is kissed.
But apart from the above it is a very enjoyable read, I didn't mind the 'sparkly' vampires because it is a new gimmick and is different to the old 'burning in the sun' routine. I would not class this as the best book in the world but it's not too bad
