Okay... I was hoping for so much for this book. It's a paranormal LGBT romance. It's a genre that I have interest in and I was looking for a great read. Unfortunately the blurb is the best thing about this book.
The issues I have with this book are numerous and it will take too long to list them all. The world building is flat and I have no idea of why the world works the way it does. Why is the character hated? What is the character involved in? What do his friends bring to the story? These are not questions that are prompted by the plot, but by the incoherent structure. We begin with Raven being sent away for reasons unexplained and to do something poorly defined. It purely comes across as a plot device to meet hawt vampire.
The writing is bland, the characters are cardboard and the descriptions odd. 'His beautiful green eyes' was one gem I rolled my eyes over, it would have not been an issue if the main character was describing another character, but this was the description for the main character. The magic is interesting, but not enough to raise the rest of the book from the mediocre.
I really really dislike having to give such a low review, particularly to a book that could have been excellent
