Incanta was a deliciously dark surprize. We follow the trials of Cytriah, a soul-singer, who lives within the regimented, daemon-controlled society of Malvaar. Struggling to complete her duties after a past trauma, Cytriah makes a deal with a daemon, and her world starts to fall apart.
I was gripped by this book. I could not put it down. Leaving aside Cytriah's forays into TSTL territory, and the fact that every male character wanted her, this was still an awesome book.
I loved the alien, deeply terrifying society. I loved the fact that there was no grand effort to pull it down. I loved the richness and detail. It kept me reading right the way to the end, and convinced me to buy the prequel.
It's bloody good... buy it.
