Justice Buried is the first story in the Starbright series of books. It's set in a post apocalyptic world and follows Astrea, the 17 year old prophesied future ruler of the underground city of Asphodel. Along with her prophesied partner Lexan, she butts heads with the current leader, finds a man from outside and eventually travels there.
My feelings towards this book are fairly mixed. I loved the background. The idea that a bunch of people building an underground society where astrology is revered as a religion, is very strong. The society itself is fascinating with more than a few hints of dystopia and I quite liked the way it worked. There's also Astrea's desire to rule her own life and the fascinating hints of the other worlds. I also loved Lexan.
However several points really lowered the score of this book for me. The obligatory love triangle; the fact that Astrea was well trained in combat but totally inept when it came to do anything; the whiny voice of Astrea and her total inability to mature.
I liked the book enough to keep reading the series, but I did skim certain points. Good background, great potential but frustrating main character.
