'Mama Cried' is only 12 pages long but within those 12 pages is a heartbreaking tale of loss, grief, horror and redemption. I say too much about the plot, without giving too much away but Jenny is playing on swings in a playground when Azula, one of the guardians of the playground asks her to come and make an important decision with the words:
“You will need to make a big decision today Jenny,” she says.
“There is no right or wrong answer, and you will still get to go where the other children went…”
What follows is hard to define and even harder to talk about. This is a story that much be read and savoured and then talked about. All I can say is, read it.... savour it... think about it.
