Twiceborn is a fascinating book. Kate is a divorcee who is mourning the death of her son. Lost in her grief, she takes a job delivering packages for a friend. She spends her time slowly going through the motions until the day she returns from a job with no memory. Attacked in her kitchen by a werewolf, she becomes dragged into a world she didn't know existed. A world where dragons are fighting for a throne and she is no longer what she was.
I loved the book. It was fast paced and exciting. I loved the fact it was set in Sydney. I loved the use of flashbacks and the insights they showed. I really liked the character of Kate and the fact she was fully fleshed out. She has spunk, drive and she feels genuinely nonplussed by the world she finds herself in, but she doesn't let it overwhelm her. Kate is proactive and thinks for herself. I also loved the glimpses of the dragon world and the politics that drive it.
The action is well written and the emotion leaps off the page.
There are a few minor's niggles but they don't impact enough to damage my enjoyment of the book.
Loved the book and I will read the sequels.
